About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer and Information Systems Specialist to join our team at the Oregon Department of Corrections. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, utilizing your expertise to design, construct, program, troubleshoot, secure, and maintain routers, switches, modems, LANs, and WANs.

As a key member of our team, you will work on enterprise-level projects, supporting other state agencies who connect to our department's WAN. You will collaborate with stakeholders throughout the state to ensure best business practices and the security of our network while continuing to modernize and optimize our technology.

This position is represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). You may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

Responsibilities
  • Design, construct, program, troubleshoot, secure, and maintain routers, switches, modems, LANs, and WANs within the department.
  • Work on enterprise-level projects, supporting other state agencies who connect to our department's WAN.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the state to ensure best business practices and the security of our network.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have six years of information systems experience in network engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Six (6) years of information systems experience in network engineering
  • An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND four (4) years of information systems experience in network engineering
  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND two (2) years of information systems experience in network engineering

Preferred skills include Cisco switches, Cisco Wireless Controllers, Fortigate Firewalls, strategic planning of LANs, WANs, and network security, network operations and integration, network troubleshooting and monitoring.

Benefits

The salary range for this position is $74,824 - $111,124 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including family health and dental insurance, optional short and long-term disability and term life insurance, fully paid retirement program, modest life insurance policy, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.

Position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
