Your Role in Making a Difference

As a Practical Nursing Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive psychiatric and medical care within your professional scope and under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You will be responsible for managing assignments, prioritizing tasks, and engaging in program services as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist in delivering holistic nursing care services, including treatment, recovery plan formulation, implementation of care plans, and evaluation of nursing interventions.
  2. Exhibit a thorough understanding of all standards, regulations, and policies related to medication administration, documentation, and patient education.
  3. Ensure the safe transport and administration of both controlled and non-controlled medications to patients.
  4. Demonstrate extensive knowledge and therapeutic skills in psychiatric mental health disorders, human development, and principles of psychiatric rehabilitation.
  5. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of nursing services and relevant policies, including accreditation standards applicable to your role.
  6. Engage in ongoing professional development through educational workshops, conferences, and self-study to stay current in your field.
  7. Be sensitive to cultural diversity, treating each patient as an individual and considering their cultural background in care delivery.
  8. Understand the care and treatment needs of patients across various age groups, providing tailored care that respects developmental stages.
  9. Apply critical thinking principles to diverse situations and adhere to standardized procedures, even when deviations are necessary.
  10. Exercise sound judgment in various scenarios, applying knowledge to different situations.
  11. Maintain alertness and attention to detail at all times.
  12. Effectively manage stress in a fast-paced environment.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program

Experience:

  • Preferred one (1) year of experience in an acute care or forensic environment

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must possess a current, unrestricted nursing license in the state of practice or qualify for licensure through reciprocity with other states
