Reports to: Plant Manager; Assistant Plant Manager

Supervises: None

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Complies with company policies and center-specific guidelines.
  • Punctually attends scheduled shifts.
  • Procures cleaning supplies as necessary; verifies invoice accuracy.
  • Maintains overall cleanliness and aesthetic of the center, including tasks such as sweeping, mopping, waxing, buffing, vacuuming, power washing, scrubbing, dusting, carpet shampooing, and sanitizing.
  • Disinfects surfaces by cleaning furnishings, tiles, fixtures, and equipment with appropriate solutions; polishes sinks, drinking fountains, toilets, mirrors, and similar items; spot cleans walls, light switches, and telephones; washes windows and doors; ensures all debris is collected.
  • Cleans delivery vehicles and maintains cleanliness of totes and carts used for product delivery.
  • Stays informed about new cleaning products and safety protocols, including OSHA regulations, safety equipment, and MSDS; identifies and reports safety concerns.
  • Collects and disposes of trash from both indoor and outdoor areas; ensures trash containers are lined and clean.
  • Restocks hand cleaners, paper towels, toilet tissue, and other disposable items in designated areas.
  • Keeps janitorial equipment, tools, and storage areas organized and in safe working condition.
  • Replaces light bulbs as necessary.
  • Monitors plumbing, fixtures, coolers, and freezers, reporting any repair needs to supervisors.
  • Installs and replaces dispensers for paper towels, toilet paper, and soap as required.
  • Handles minor equipment maintenance tasks.
  • Unclogs drains as needed.
Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Assists in various areas of the center as required.
  • Completes additional job-related tasks and special projects as assigned.
  • Maintains cleanliness of cooling systems and filters.
  • Consistently presents a clean and professional appearance.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Characteristics:
  • Ability to address practical problems with various variables and limited standardization; capable of interpreting instructions.
  • Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; capable of writing identifying information and requesting supplies.
Education and Experience:

Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent; at least one year of custodial experience or related background.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; up to 20 pounds frequently; and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for 6-8 hours daily.
  • Visual requirements include the ability to see at varying distances, depth perception, color vision, and a wide field of vision.
  • Must be capable of performing physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions:

This role is set in a fast-paced environment, which may involve pressure to meet deadlines. Exposure to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, equipment movement hazards, cleaning chemicals, and electrical hazards may occur.

Equipment Utilized:

Scrubber, buffer/swing machine, mop, hand tools, power tools, vacuum.
