Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Services Technician to join our team at UnityPoint Health. As an Environmental Services Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitized, and safe environment throughout the Medical Center for our patients, visitors, and employees.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in moving furniture and patient beds as requested.
  • Replenish supplies including soap, towels, toilet tissue, and other disposable items.
  • Operate and train others to operate cleaning equipment, such as vacuum sweepers, auto scrubbers, battery-operated vacuums, and carpet extractors.
  • Clean vents, lights, walls, windows, mirrors, doors, including knobs, jambs, and any hardware, fire extinguishers, and telephones.
  • Maintain carpets and hard surface flooring, including scraping and refinishing.
  • Collect all trash, bio-waste, recycling, chemo-waste, transport, and dispose of in correct receptacles.
  • Empty, clean, and reline trash receptacles.
  • Sanitize and spot clean all horizontal surfaces, windows, and polished fixtures.
  • Ensure patient/customer satisfaction with completed work.
  • Follow assigned area work schedule flow, adjusting as needed to the daily operations of the hospital.
  • Perform specialized or project cleaning as scheduled, and varying with assigned area.
  • Stock and replenish linens and scrub orders to par levels.
Requirements
  • Reading, writing, and mathematical skills at a level normally acquired through completion of high school or equivalent.
  • No experience needed, but 2 years of previous commercial cleaning experience and 1 year of commercial floorcare experience are preferred.
  • Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA, and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
