Manufacturing Automation Controls Specialist

Job Summary
As a Manufacturing Automation Controls Specialist at Insight Global, you will be responsible for designing and implementing controls systems for manufacturing lines, including mechanical automation equipment, robots, and electromechanical systems. Your expertise in programming industrial equipment in IEC languages, particularly structured text and ladder logic, will be crucial in implementing and maintaining a database and ensuring safety standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement controls systems for manufacturing lines, including mechanical automation equipment, robots, and electromechanical systems.
- Program industrial equipment in IEC languages, with a focus on structured text and ladder logic.
- Implement and maintain a database to track and manage data.
- Ensure safety standards are met by implementing controls reliable safety systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other high-volume manufacturing equipment.
- Train technicians on the maintenance and repair of controls systems.
- Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing.
- Interface with the Tesla Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to communicate product acceptability, machine status, and process variables.
Requirements
- AS or BS Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent majors.
- At least 1 year of experience as a hands-on mechanical/manufacturing controls Engineer working on automation and/or electromechanical systems.
- Advanced proficiency in programming industrial equipment in IEC languages, with a focus on structured text and ladder logic.
- Experience implementing and maintaining a database.
- Safety PLCs (Allen Bradley, Omron, Pilz, Siemens, B&R, etc.) and Field bus Networks (EtherCAT, ProfiNet, ProfiBud, Modbus, Powerlink, RS232, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred experience with semi-automated/automated manufacturing equipment.
