Job Summary

The Flow Cytometry Technical Specialist serves as a key member of the clinical flow cytometry laboratory team at St. Luke's Hospital. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail in daily specimen processing and data analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain flow cytometry instruments, including cell sorters and analyzers, to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Perform flow cytometry sample preparation and analysis, utilizing specialized software to interpret data and provide insights to hematopathologists.
  • Design and execute flow cytometry experiments based on the requirements of hematopathologists, ensuring compliance with laboratory safety procedures and regulations.
  • Collaborate with hematopathologists to develop new flow cytometry protocols or improve existing ones, staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in flow cytometry technology and methodologies.
  • Present findings to colleagues, at scientific meetings, or to clients, effectively communicating complex technical information.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, maintaining confidentiality of all materials handled within the organization.
  • Participate in troubleshooting technical issues related to flow cytometry, utilizing problem-solving skills to resolve complex problems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 2 years of clinical flow cytometry experience, with a proven track record of technical expertise and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide insights to hematopathologists.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
