Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist to join our team at Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the operating room, providing support to surgeons and nursing staff during vaginal deliveries and surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare the operating room, equipment, and supplies for procedures, anticipating the needs of surgeons and nursing staff.
  • Assist surgeons and nursing staff during vaginal deliveries and surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to strict protocols.
  • Participate in debriefing and quality improvement practices to ensure quality patient care, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with the interprofessional healthcare team to achieve optimal department results, promoting a positive work environment and facilitating open communication.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to Surgical Tech positions, utilizing skills and knowledge to train and orient others.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or military training equivalency.
  • Two years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
  • Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA), CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA), TS-C - Technologist in Surgery-Certified (NCCT), or GRNDF - Surgical Technologist Met Grandfather Clause (Bill 643).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and proficiency in using hospital database systems, such as EPIC.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers in a customer service-focused manner.
  • Proficient knowledge of instruments sets, surgical supplies, and sterile technique.
