The Event Sales and Services Manager operates under the guidance of the General Manager, focusing on the promotion and sale of event venues and associated services to prospective clients. Note: This position does not provide relocation assistance. Candidates must reside within the Nashville area. We seek a sales expert with a background in and enthusiasm for the hospitality sector (e.g., hotels) and/or the music entertainment field.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate revenue by identifying new business opportunities and cultivating a robust client portfolio; accountable for expanding and nurturing corporate, association groups, festivals, and wedding clientele.
- Proactively seek leads and pursue new business within the downtown and surrounding metropolitan areas.
- Leverage hospitality knowledge to maintain relationships and stay informed about market trends, competition, and customer preferences, with a strong emphasis on building business partnerships.
- Engage regularly with local caterers and meeting planners to ensure a steady pipeline of upcoming events.
- Stay informed about departmental revenue targets and focus sales efforts on achieving these objectives.
- Provide communication services to clients and promoters.
- Collaborate with clients and staff to establish event requirements, staffing needs, pricing, equipment necessities, and logistics.
- Coordinate, arrange, and document event specifications requested by promoters, agents, and clients, ensuring smooth operations by communicating these details to relevant staff and vendors.
- Oversee event management services for all scheduled events.
- Work with facility staff to facilitate event planning and scheduling, ensuring efficient management of daily operations to deliver high-quality service.
- Make necessary adjustments to room or equipment setups as requested by clients, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and preparing accurate statements for any additional changes.
- Coordinate and supervise contract and event support personnel, including security, catering, and decoration teams.
- Take responsibility for resolving issues that arise during events, addressing and responding to client complaints.
- Aim for excellence in maintaining accurate records of all events, expenses, revenues, and payments to external vendors and industry organizations.
- Keep detailed records of individual events and gather statistical data on attendance and usage; maintain mailing lists and event files.
- Issue invoices, monitor receivables, and manage collections.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality service while fostering a positive relationship with each client or group.
- Conduct post-event evaluations to collect feedback and identify areas for improvement.
- Act as a liaison between the venue, clients, and external vendors to uphold Cannery Hall's reputation for exceptional hospitality. Communicate and coordinate production requirements as needed.
- Ensure adherence to departmental policies and procedures, particularly concerning financial and legal matters.
- Create and update event maps (floor plans).
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience Required:
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in hospitality-related event sales or equivalent education/experience is required.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Proficient in computer operations, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
