Job Title: Library Media Assistant

Stockton Unified School District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Library Media Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic success of our students.

Job Summary:

The Library Media Assistant will provide a wide range of services to support the library and instructional programs at our school site. This includes assisting students and teachers in the selection, location, and use of library materials and equipment, as well as maintaining the library's collection and providing research assistance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist students and teachers in the selection, location, and use of library materials and equipment
  • Respond to inquiries and provide information to students and teachers
  • Circulate library materials, check books in and out, and shelve returned materials
  • Process and shelve library materials, including textbooks and instructional materials
  • Monitor inventory levels of textbooks and instructional materials and assist in ordering supplies as needed
  • Perform a variety of clerical library duties, including inputting and processing library material and textbook orders
  • Operate a variety of office and library equipment, including computers and assigned software
  • Maintain accurate records and files related to library materials, student information, and inventory
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of general clerical or library experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Basic knowledge of library methods, practices, and terminology
  • Ability to learn and apply new skills and technologies
Working Conditions:

The Library Media Assistant will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent interruptions. The position requires the ability to sit for extended periods, see and read a computer screen and printed matter, and hear and understand speech at normal levels.
