The Interventional Radiology Technician plays a vital role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by assisting radiologists in performing diagnostic and therapeutic radiologic procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist physicians during interventional radiology procedures, including angiography, biopsies, and catheter placements.
- Operate and manage radiologic imaging equipment, ensuring optimal performance and image quality.
- Prepare and position patients for procedures, ensuring safety and comfort throughout.
- Follow radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes or abnormalities to the medical team.
- Sterilize and prepare instruments, surgical trays, and materials for each procedure.
- Maintain accurate patient records and document the procedures performed.
- Ensure the interventional radiology room is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
- Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and industry best practices regarding patient safety and care.
- Associate degree or certification in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required.
- Advanced certification in vascular interventional radiography (VI) or cardiovascular-interventional radiography (CV) preferred.
- Maryland state licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Prior experience in interventional radiology or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of radiologic equipment and procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
