Overview:

Lunar Outpost is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Test Engineering Intern to support the testing and validation of lunar rovers and other spaceflight hardware. As a Test Engineering Intern, you will be involved in multiple aspects of the testing lifecycle, from writing test plans and documentation to fabricating test setups and executing tests in specialized environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test Documentation: Develop detailed test procedures, test plans, and reports, ensuring compliance with rigorous aerospace industry standards.
  • Test Hardware Design and Fabrication: Design, build, and assemble test fixtures and custom equipment required for component and full-system tests.
  • Component and Full System Testing: Assist in executing comprehensive tests on subsystems and full robotic systems, including integration tests for spaceflight hardware.
  • Environmental Testing: Run tests in Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) chambers, simulant testbeds, and other environmental setups to simulate space conditions.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze test data to ensure hardware meets the mission requirements and provide feedback for iterative design improvements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to ensure test objectives are met.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to work methodically in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Can effectively demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills, while also excelling in collaboration and teamwork in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Exhibits strong organizational and time management skills under pressure and in stressful situations.
  • Fueled by a passion for space exploration and the boundless possibilities beyond our world.
