Job Title: Senior Director of Development

Florida International University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director of Development to join our team. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for executing the College's portion of the next comprehensive University campaign, directing all campaign fundraising and alumni activities, and working to individually cultivate existing and new donor relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to secure philanthropic support from individuals, corporations, and foundations in support of the College's campaign and fundraising priorities.
  • Manage all fundraising activities, including donor cultivation, proposals, solicitations, and stewardship.
  • Proactively manage a personal portfolio of up to 180 potential donors, prospects, and suspects.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Dean's Council and provide guidance on the recruitment and engagement of key alumni and community leaders to College volunteer leadership positions in support of fundraising strategies.
  • Participate in university-wide prospect management, cultivation, and stewardship of donors and prospects.
  • Develop and implement a strategic work plan that focuses on the internal and external objectives of University Advancement and the College of Business.
  • Ensure the cooperative participation of the COB Office of Advancement team in the University prospect management and tracking system, as well as with University alumni relations.
  • Monitor progress towards achieving revenue goals and report regularly to the Assistant Vice President.
  • Attend all development meetings as required.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Vice President of Development, other development teams, and volunteers daily to develop and implement fundraising strategies in order to meet established goals and objectives.
  • Facilitate productive relationships daily between donors and University administrators, faculty, and staff to ensure effectiveness of programs.
  • Manage a set portfolio of individual, corporate, and foundation prospects capable of making significant gifts in order to secure major gift commitments.
  • Plan and implement programs that include measurable targets for each fiscal year (e.g., personal visits, stewardship activities, solicitations).
  • Meet the annual goal for personal contacts as established by the Assistant Vice President for Development.
  • Meet agreed-upon annual fundraising goal for the College as set jointly by the Assistant Vice President.
  • Document contact and prospect moves, track progress using Raiser's Edge, and adhere to University Advancement prospect management guidelines and protocol.
  • Produce and evaluate reports related to fundraising and development program activity and production for College and University leadership.
  • Develop and assist with the approval of fundraising publications and publicity materials for all fundraising programs in the College and recommend to the Dean for final approval.
  • Utilize media channels and emerging technologies effectively to fundraise for the College of Business.
  • Collaborate with the College's Human Resources Department and serve as point of contact for the recruitment, hiring, retention, and performance of departmental faculty, staff, and other personnel.
  • Meet with and personally solicit support from previous and potential donors to the University on campus, nationally, internationally, and throughout the community.
  • Develop and/or implement a strategically planned travel schedule to meet with prospects and donors, aligned with strategies and outcomes, in consultation with the Assistant Vice President of Development.
  • Draft, design, and prepare personalized materials needed for the recognition and stewardship of donors, including gift acknowledgment.
  • Collaborate with Donor Relations and Stewardship as appropriate.
  • Manage professional and/or support personnel, including setting performance objectives, ongoing performance measurement, and appraisal.
  • Draft, design, and prepare proposals needed for the solicitation of prospective donors.
  • Collaborate with Editorial Services as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and ten (10) years of experience with six (6) years of experience in fundraising.
  • Supervises/manages subordinate staff.

Salary and Benefits:

$120,000 - $135,000

Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
