Responsibilities
  • Complete inspections throughout the City of Seattle's direct water service area to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Schedule, complete, and document regulatory inspections.
  • Provide outreach, education, and support for customers regarding regulations and policies related to public health and drinking water quality.
  • Enforce State and Local regulations as needed.
  • Collaborate with other Authorities Having Jurisdiction in the City of Seattle's direct water service area.
  • Investigate potentially unprotected cross-connections and potential backflow events.
Requirements
  • Experience: A minimum of three years' experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution systems or engineering inspection.
  • License, Certification, and Other Requirements: Current Washington State driver's license, Water Distribution Manager One Certification, Cross-Connection Control Specialist One Certification, Certification as Water Distribution Manager II, and Backflow Assembling Testing (BAT) Certification by State of Washington within one year of employment.
Work Environment

This position includes a fluctuating balance between field and office work. Afterhours work is performed while on a Standby rotation, and as needed.
