Position Overview:
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician, the Practical Nurse Specialist delivers essential nursing care to patients. This role encompasses the responsibility for gathering data related to patient conditions, ongoing assessment, documentation of patient responses, and providing education to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver patient care tailored to the individualized care plan as directed by the supervising Registered Nurse or Physician, addressing the physical, emotional, cultural, spiritual, psychosocial, and educational needs of the patient.
  • Continuously monitor and accurately document patient status and conditions, which may include vital signs, wound care, and laboratory results.
  • Communicate effectively with the supervising Registered Nurse or Physician regarding performed activities, patient observations, and any changes in patient conditions.
  • Ensure the precise maintenance of patient medical records, treating all patient information with the utmost confidentiality.
  • Collect and document relevant data as assigned by the supervising Registered Nurse or Physician, which may involve the use of specialized medical equipment.
  • Administer medications and document their administration in accordance with established policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not include management responsibilities and will report to a designated supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Practical Nurse program recognized by the relevant state nursing board.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Practical Nurse is preferred.
  • Current licensure to practice as a Practical Nurse in the state.

Alternative Qualifications:
In lieu of one year of experience, candidates who have successfully completed a recognized Nurse Residency Program or an equivalent program from another institution may be considered. Additionally, candidates enrolled in an accredited Practical Nurse to Registered Nurse transition program may also be eligible.

Work Schedule:
This position typically operates during daytime hours.
