Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a qualified Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team in Barnegat, NJ. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform all hot lab related functions, including receiving, using, and discarding of Radio-pharmaceuticals, following vendor, departmental, and DEP rules and regulations.
  • Calibrate the dose calibrator and perform QC procedures on gamma cameras per departmental protocols and notify the lead tech of any malfunctions/issues promptly.
  • Identify patients both IP and OP per hospital SOP before starting any procedure.
  • Explain the procedure to the patient clearly, including wait times, and perform the procedure, assuring maximum comfort to the patient.
  • Obtain best possible images by using prescribed technical parameters and techniques.
  • Assure that all tests are performed properly and test results are valid and accurate prior to the release of the patient.
  • Assist the nuclear physician with the implementation of special imaging procedures.
  • Strive to maintain the department in a neat and clean condition.
  • Accept special assignments from supervisor and complete them on time.
  • Abide by standards established by the hospital, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Perform all duties in a friendly and courteous manner, offering assistance to physicians, patients, families, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Extend courtesy and consideration to others in all interpersonal relationships, including telephone contacts.
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond to instruction from peers or superiors in order to complete department tasks.
  • Demonstrate the ability to determine the proper time to discuss differences in work strategy.
  • Perform other departmental duties as prescribed by supervisory personnel.
  • Work overtime when needed.
  • Assist in the performances of non-technical tasks within the department.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
