Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at RWJBarnabas Health. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our Radiology and Imaging department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform all hot lab related functions, including receiving, using, and discarding of Radio-pharmaceuticals, following vendor, departmental, and DEP rules and regulations.
  • Calibrate the dose calibrator and perform QC procedures on gamma cameras per departmental protocols.
  • Identify patients both inpatient and outpatient per hospital SOP before starting any procedure.
  • Explain procedures to patients clearly, including wait times, and perform procedures to ensure maximum comfort.
  • Obtain best possible images by using prescribed technical parameters and techniques.
  • Assure that all tests are performed properly and test results are valid and accurate prior to patient release.
  • Assist nuclear physicians with special imaging procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized department.
  • Accept special assignments from supervisor and complete them on time.
  • Abide by standards established by the hospital, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Perform all duties in a friendly and courteous manner, offering assistance to physicians, patients, families, visitors, and coworkers.
Requirements:
  • Graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
  • PET experience a plus.
  • Two years hospital experience as a staff technologist.
  • Must possess a current NJ State license, ARRT, and/or NMTCB.
  • BLS certification.
