Workers Compensation Claims Specialist

Job Summary

Farah & Farah is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Workers Compensation Legal Assistant to join our team. As a Workers Compensation Legal Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our Workers Compensation Department by answering incoming calls and emails, setting up patient charts, scheduling appointments, and processing outgoing claims.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls and emails from patients and insurance carriers to set up patient charts and schedule appointments.
  • Provide information and answer questions related to workers compensation claims, policies, and procedures.
  • Review accounts and forms for accuracy and completeness.
  • Send documentation and orders to the correct carrier for each patient visit.
  • Interact with claims adjustors to verify patient work status and scheduled appointments.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing regarding interpretation of local and out-of-state guidelines and policies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports.
  • Respond to telephone calls from internal staff, patients, adjustors, and case managers.
  • Obtain authorizations for initial visits, surgeries, and physical therapy.

  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn and retain company policies, state and federal policies, and workflow processes.
  • Consistent record of attendance, reliability, and integrity.
  • Workers' Compensation experience is preferred.
  • Proven 1+ year in medical billing or medical physician office experience or hospital environment.
  • Spanish speaking is a plus.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
