Overview

The Chief Biomedical Engineering Officer is tasked with overseeing the professional and administrative functions within a complex healthcare environment. Key Responsibilities

The Chief Biomedical Engineering Officer's duties encompass a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Direct reporting to the Associate Director, receiving broad administrative guidance for mission-oriented assignments.
  • Approval and management of multi-year strategic plans developed by subordinate supervisors to ensure the achievement of organizational objectives.
  • Full administrative, managerial, and supervisory oversight of the Biomedical Engineering program across various facilities and outpatient clinics.
  • Management of personnel actions and organizational design proposals recommended by subordinate staff.
  • Leadership of the Biomedical Engineering service line, which includes supervising engineers, support specialists, and administrative personnel.
  • Advising on engineering principles and practices relevant to the field, leveraging both educational background and practical experience.
  • Monitoring daily operations related to medical equipment and clinical systems, ensuring proper data management and representation.
  • Maintaining effective communication with vendors to stay updated on technological advancements in medical equipment.
  • Setting priorities for special requests from different programs and supporting telehealth initiatives.
  • Implementing and sustaining equipment management programs that comply with regulatory standards.
  • Developing educational materials for ongoing training of clinical and research staff regarding medical technology applications.
  • Providing guidance on emerging technologies and research methodologies to address biomedical engineering challenges.
  • Applying project management principles within the healthcare context to facilitate effective medical equipment implementation.
Work Schedule: Standard business hours, Monday through Friday.

Telework: May be approved on an ad-hoc basis.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet specific educational and experience criteria, including:
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering from an accredited institution, or certification as a Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE).
