The City of San Clemente is seeking a service-oriented individual to fill the position of Golf Course Marshal at the San Clemente Municipal Golf Course.
Job SummaryThe Golf Course Marshal is responsible for maintaining a reasonable pace of play on the golf course, communicating with golf operations staff, and assisting with course maintenance. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of the game of golf and be able to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities- Maintain a reasonable pace of play on the golf course
- Communicate with golf operations staff
- Assist with course maintenance, including filling divots, raking bunkers, and sanitizing public restrooms
- Assist with trash removal on the golf course and around the clubhouse area
- Inform players of course conditions and local rules
- Respond to and resolve concerns from golf course visitors and address neighborhood concerns related to golf course use
- Assist with special events and golf tournament setup
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade
- Possession of a current, valid California Class C driver's license
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Good knowledge of the game of golf and ability to communicate effectively with golfers
Positions primarily work in an outdoor setting and are subject to noise, heat, cold, and inclement weather conditions. Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time, with frequent bending, turning, kneeling, and stooping.
This position may be exposed to herbicides and fertilizers, misdirected golf balls, sharp and rapid equipment movements, and moving mechanical parts.
Application and Selection ProcedureAll applicants must submit a completed City of San Clemente application form and supplemental questionnaire to be considered. Applications will not be accepted by fax or email. Applications must be submitted via the City's website.
Examinations for the position may consist of any combination of written, performance, or oral exams to evaluate the applicant's skill, training, and experience.
Prior to employment, the prospective candidate must successfully complete a background review, medical examination, including drug screen, and be fingerprinted, all at City expense.
