Job Overview

RPower is in search of an accomplished Director of Business Development to enhance our innovative team. In this influential position, you will be instrumental in propelling our organization’s expansion through the sales of resiliency, microgrid, and energy management solutions.

The ideal candidate will hold a 4-year technical degree and have at least 5 years of professional experience in the energy sector, industrials, or a related domain. An advanced business degree is highly desirable.

This role requires a high degree of autonomy, with minimal daily oversight, and no assigned territories or clients. The Director of Business Development will be tasked with proactively identifying, advancing, and securing new Commercial and Industrial clientele.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulate and implement business development strategies and establish go-to-market plans to stimulate revenue growth for our microgrid offerings, concentrating on technical solution sales related to resiliency and energy management.
  • Identify and chase new project and program opportunities across various end-user segments and geographic areas.
  • Establish yourself as the Subject Matter Expert in designated sales segments.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research and competitor analysis to gain a profound understanding of customer requirements, market dynamics, and industry trends within relevant markets.
  • Forge and nurture robust relationships with key stakeholders, including end-users, developers, utility companies, independent power producers (IPPs), and system operators.
  • Possess a deep understanding of the design and operation of natural gas and diesel microgrids, offering expert knowledge and technical insights to clients throughout the sales process.
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams, including engineering, finance, project management, and marketing, to ensure alignment of sales strategies with overarching business goals.
  • Stay informed about policy shifts in deregulated electric markets, particularly in relevant regions, comprehending market structures, regulations, and key players.
  • Develop strong connections with retail electric providers (REPs) to explore partnership opportunities and enhance our market presence.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive presentations, proposals, and product demonstrations to prospective clients, emphasizing the unique value of our microgrid solutions.
  • Oversee the negotiation of contracts and pricing agreements, ensuring mutually advantageous terms for both the organization and clients.
  • Provide timely and precise sales forecasts, reports, and updates to senior management, highlighting essential sales metrics, opportunities, and challenges.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a 4-year technical degree in a relevant field.
  • 5 years of professional experience in energy, industrials, or a related field.
  • Understanding of the significance of electrical resiliency across various end-user sectors, including commercial, industrial, distribution, retail healthcare, and educational domains.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the capability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proactive and results-driven mindset, with a proven ability to meet and exceed sales objectives.
  • Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills, with the capacity to identify customer needs and propose tailored solutions.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary to meet with clients, attend industry events, and explore new business opportunities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Salesforce.
