We are seeking a skilled Desktop Engineer to join our Information Technology Team in LaVergne, TN. As a Desktop Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining standard workstation configurations for both Windows and macOS environments.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and implement workstation standards for Windows and macOS environments.
- Create, test, deploy, and manage desktop and laptop images for both Windows and macOS.
- Packaging applications for deployment using RMM tools such as Kaseya VSA or Jamf.
- Plan, test, and deploy new operating systems, ensuring compatibility with enterprise applications and hardware for both Windows and macOS.
- Regularly apply security patches and updates to operating systems and applications on both Windows and macOS.
- Collaborate with IT Security to implement and manage endpoint security solutions, including antivirus, anti-malware, and encryption tools.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues on Windows and macOS desktops and laptops.
- Monitor desktop performance on both Windows and macOS and make adjustments to improve user experience and system efficiency.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all Windows and macOS desktop and laptop hardware.
- Ensure Windows and macOS desktops and laptops comply with corporate policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop scripts and automation tools using PowerShell, Bash, zsh, and AppleScript to streamline desktop management tasks.
- Provide training on new systems and processes for both Windows and macOS platforms.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and support of enterprise systems across Windows and macOS.
- Participate in incident and problem management processes, identifying root causes and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Liaise with hardware and software vendors to resolve issues and evaluate new products.
- Lead or participate in IT projects, ensuring timely completion and alignment with business objectives.
- Maintain and enforce desktop configuration management policies.
- Assess current and future desktop hardware and software needs, making recommendations for upgrades and replacements.
- Associate's degree in computer science or related field or directly related year for year experience.
- 1+ years' experience as a Desktop Engineer or equivalent role required.
- In-depth experience with Windows and macOS desktop operating systems.
- Proficiency in OS deployment, patch management, and group policy management.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, and Citrix XenServer.
- Experience with software packaging and distribution tools like Kaseya VSA, Jamf, ManageEngine, Ivanti, and InTune.
- Proficiency in automation scripting using PowerShell, Bash, zsh, and AppleScript.
- Knowledge of endpoint security solutions including antivirus, anti-malware, and encryption tools.
