Job Summary

Care Coordinators at Atrium Health play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient care. As a Care Coordinator, you will assist patients and providers in coordinating referrals, obtaining authorizations, and scheduling appointments. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will be essential in understanding benefits coverage and ensuring patients receive the care they need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete referrals for patients and coordinate with referring and receiving practices and/or departments.
  • Coordinate and prepare financial estimates for patients.
  • Obtain all necessary authorizations.
  • Direct patients to providers within their insurance plan.
  • Review benefits and educate patients on insurance coverage.
  • Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, diagnostic testing, or other services within various departments with internal and ancillary providers.
  • Review schedules and confirm accuracy.
  • Follow up on all referrals to ensure no care gaps.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Thorough understanding of insurance coverage and medical necessity policies preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical records software preferred.
  • Customer service experience required.

Work Environment

Atrium Health is a fast-paced office environment that requires the ability to sit for long periods and work efficiently. The ideal candidate should be able to bend and lift up to 10 pounds.
