ROLE SUMMARY: The Sanitation Operations Manager will be responsible for the strategic implementation of sanitation protocols within our facility. This role encompasses evaluating the design and efficiency of cleaning systems, managing chemical inventories, and ensuring continuous improvement through validation of cleaning practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the execution of capital projects associated with sanitation systems and equipment.
- Ensure effective sanitation practices are in place, adhering to budgetary constraints and operational efficiency.
- Establish and monitor goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) for sanitation operations.
- Analyze data related to cleaning verification processes, initiating corrective actions as necessary to uphold food safety standards.
- Conduct regular audits of cleaning procedures to maintain optimal hygiene across processing and packaging areas.
- Participate in operational shutdowns, ensuring sanitation practices are effectively executed during these periods.
- Collaborate with management and production teams to address sanitation challenges and recommend improvements.
- Perform thorough sanitation audits on various production processes to assess effectiveness.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Master Validation Plan for sanitation practices.
- Recruit and train sanitation personnel, ensuring they possess the necessary skills and knowledge.
- Act as a technical advisor on sanitation issues, providing insights and solutions.
- Formulate strategies to enhance cleaning efficiency while identifying cost-reduction opportunities.
- Ensure adherence to Employee & Food Safety and Sanitation Programs by all sanitation staff.
- Maintain accurate chemical inventories in collaboration with the Quality Control Manager.
- Oversee sanitation schedules and ensure that Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs) reflect best practices.
- Review sanitation documentation for compliance with quality assurance and regulatory standards.
- Foster partnerships with production, quality, and human resources teams to achieve operational goals.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the sanitation team, focusing on food safety and performance metrics.
- Manage the hiring, training, and performance evaluation of sanitation staff.
- Contribute expertise as a member of the Food Safety Team, particularly in sanitation and cleaning validation processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Food Science, or related field).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in sanitation processes within a food manufacturing environment.
- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports.
- Proficient knowledge of CIP design and operations.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Business acumen with a focus on problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective time management and organizational abilities.
- Commitment to training and developing team members.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.

- Familiarity with basic engineering calculations relevant to CIP parameters.
