Position Overview

The Lead Behavioral Therapist plays a crucial role in delivering client care as outlined by the Clinical Director. This position involves providing both group and individual therapy sessions as prescribed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in collaborative efforts with the Treatment Team to develop and refine the Master Treatment Plan, ensuring ongoing treatment aligns with client needs.
  • Actively participate in Multidisciplinary Treatment Plan meetings, sharing relevant insights gathered from clients and their families.
  • Attend scheduled daily and weekly staffing meetings to discuss client progress and treatment strategies.
  • Assess the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions within the treatment environment.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions and ensure timely completion of related documentation.
  • Conduct individual therapy sessions with clients and their families, focusing on co-occurring disorders.
Assessment and Planning

Utilize the ASAM criteria for client assessments and apply the current DSM for accurate diagnosis, determining the necessary level of care and ongoing service requirements.

  • Gather essential historical records to inform assessments.
  • Collaborate with clients to create and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Develop transfer and discharge plans in accordance with client progress.
Professional Conduct

Exhibit professionalism and serve as a role model for positive mental health and recovery practices.

  • Obtain Releases of Information to facilitate care coordination.
  • Communicate effectively with external entities, including mental health providers, legal agencies, educational institutions, and child protective services.
Documentation and Crisis Management

Maintain comprehensive documentation of client assessments, progress, and interventions in the medical record.

  • Recognize and respond to psychiatric crises, providing necessary interventions.
  • Assist in medical emergencies as required.
Continuous Education

Commit to ongoing professional development in evidence-based clinical practices and patient care.

  • Report any personal health concerns to the Infection Control Designee.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Cultural Competence

Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate and interact with diverse populations, ensuring culturally responsive services are delivered.

Maintain a thorough understanding of patient rights as per the Mental Health Code, advocating for and upholding these rights while assisting clients in filing complaints when necessary.
