Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Mathematics Educator to join our team at North Cook Intermediate Service Center & Regional Office of Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Mathematics to students in a small classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Instruction
    • Teach Algebra, Geometry, and Middle School Mathematics to students in a small classroom setting.
    • Implement individualized programs for each student in the Alternative Education Program (AEP).
    • Provide instruction in specific skill areas to a diverse student population.
    • Prepare supplemental instructional materials and experiences to enhance learning opportunities.
    • Assess student learning and utilize a variety of teaching techniques/modalities.
  • Professional Responsibilities
    • Hold students accountable for their academic performance.
    • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records, including grade books, contact logs, progress reports, and report cards.
    • Prepare for and participate in parent/teacher conferences.
    • Communicate with parents about student progress.
    • Serve as primary contact for parents of homeroom students.
    • Attend all staff meetings and professional development seminars.
    • Fully adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the North Cook Young Adult Academy Policy Manual and the NCISC Policy Manual.
  • Learning Environment
    • Support fellow staff members.
    • Assist students in feeling vested in their own learning processes.
    • Hold students accountable for their behavioral performance.
    • Assist with behavior management when not teaching classes.
    • Implement behavior management plans.
    • Maintain a learning environment (classroom and school).
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid and current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in Mathematics.
  • Preference given to applicants with multiple Illinois State teaching endorsements and/or experience working in innovative programs with a proven record of success.
