  • Patrol hospital campuses to deter and detect criminal activity
  • Respond to calls for service and investigate incidents
  • Document allegations of crime and protect persons and property
  • Perform preliminary and continued investigations
  • Search for and collect physical evidence, interview witnesses and victims
  • Enforce criminal laws by arrest or non-arrest dispositions
  • Testify in court
  • Answer emergency and non-emergency calls for service
  • Deter and detect crime using efficient patrol techniques
  • Investigate crimes by obtaining witness statements, collecting evidence and processing crime scenes
  • Write reports on alleged criminal incidents, follow-up investigations, arrests, and juvenile records
  • Prepare criminal charges
  • Handle prisoners, including booking and transporting
  • Respond to special attention requests
  • Efficiently use discretionary patrol time for self-initiated work
  • Maintain a condition of readiness to efficiently and effectively respond to critical incidents
Requirements
  • High School Equivalent/GED Required
  • Thorough knowledge of accepted practices of delivering police service
  • Good knowledge of human relation techniques
  • Training and proficiency in firearms, defensive tactics, less lethal force equipment, LEADS, domestic violence, and legal updates
  • Thorough knowledge of state and local laws, recent court rulings, case law, search and seizure, and laws of arrest
  • Protect the constitutional rights of citizens
  • Proper use and care of department equipment and vehicles
  • Write comprehensive and detailed crime reports, accident reports, and administrative reports
  • Effectively communicate orally
  • Able to render credible testimony in a court of law
  • Driver's License (Valid) Required
  • Must possess a current and valid Ohio Peace Officer Training Commissions Peace Officer Certificate upon hiring date
