Job Overview: The Junior Accountant operates under close supervision to implement accounting principles, ensuring the accuracy of financial records. This role is essential for conducting account reconciliations, managing bank reconciliations, and supporting the Fiscal team with various initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in generating standardized financial reports in accordance with established procedures.
• Collect bids directly or ensure staff compliance in submissions to the fiscal department.
• Conduct thorough analyses of all procurement activities for necessary approvals.
• Prepare and enter general ledger entries following prescribed procedures and utilizing various accounting software.
• Extract data from multiple systems to facilitate reconciliation tasks.
• Review and enhance departmental procedures and documentation.
• Perform spreadsheet analyses to present financial data clearly to internal stakeholders.
• Compile monthly and quarterly financial statements for various entities, including bank reconciliations and journal entries.
• Monitor grant funding and prepare expenditure reports.
• Maintain comprehensive records of all financial documents, ensuring they are updated as needed.
• Support the annual budget process with relevant schedules and data.
• Manage year-end asset depreciation for the agency.
• Stay current with accounting principles and practices.
• Utilize standard office equipment and necessary software applications.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Knowledge:

• Understanding of finance, fund accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including GAAP.
• Familiarity with financial and accounting software applications.
• Awareness of federal and state financial regulations.
• Experience with Microsoft Navision Accounting Software is advantageous.

Skills:

• Proficient in operating standard office equipment and relevant software applications, including Microsoft Office.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Alternatively, a minimum of three years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
