Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Marotta Controls. As a key member of our Marine Engineering Group, you will be responsible for designing and developing critical systems for the US Navy.

Job Summary:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing products to meet customer requirements, including all design, functional, material, and test requirements. This will involve working closely with other engineers and test technicians, as well as frequent contact with suppliers, contractors, and customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop mechanical systems for the US Navy
  • Collaborate with other engineers and test technicians to ensure design and testing requirements are met
  • Work with suppliers and contractors to source materials and components
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including drawings and bills of materials
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with customer specifications and regulatory requirements
Requirements:
  • B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or equivalent)
  • 3-5 years of design experience with a variety of valves and fluid control devices
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic controls
  • Strong analytical skills, including stress analysis, heat transfer, and fluid flow
  • Ability to solve complex mechanical, static, and dynamic problems
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and compressible flow
  • Experience with tools such as ANSYS or Pro-E Mechanica
Work Environment:

This role will interact in a professional office environment, engineering lab, and manufacturing environments. The employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds. Some travel may be expected for this position (20%), including test labs, vendor, and customer visits.
