Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Coordinator to join our team at Services For The Underserved, Inc. (S:US). The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive recreational program for our shelter residents, promoting a safe and engaging environment that fosters socialization, learning, and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement a monthly recreation calendar with culturally appropriate activities for adults and children, ensuring a diverse range of interests and developmental levels.
  • Develop and lead recreational activity groups, including trips, cultural events, and arts and crafts programs.
  • Supervise the after-school and summer programs, providing respite care when necessary and maintaining a safe and organized environment.
  • Accompany children and parents to events, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Provide information to clients about daily activity schedules, program policies, and procedures.
  • Responsible for cleaning program areas after usage and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Participate in ongoing individual supervision, team meetings, and training as appropriate.
  • Assist in escorting residents to services and activities outside of the facility, such as clinics and housing referral.
  • Meet with case managers on a regular basis to assist in assigned tasks.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Human Services or a related field, or High Diploma or GED with 3+ years' social service experience.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, including those with mental health and developmental disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, staff, and community partners.
  • Ability to maintain professional maturity during crisis situations.
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification, with the ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Naloxone certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bi-lingual communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer-based programs and typing skills.
