Senior Affordable Housing Lending Relationship Manager

About the Opportunity

This role is responsible for building and maintaining a portfolio of Affordable Housing loans and contributing to City National Bank's Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) initiatives.

The successful candidate will identify and promote City National Bank's capabilities to Affordable Housing developers, Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) syndicators, and other municipal and community partners.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Identify, develop, and maintain profitable relationships with prospects and clients aligned with the Bank's objectives.
  2. Proactively ensure the credit quality standards of the Bank are maintained.
  3. Develop relationships and support other CNB departments and colleagues to provide client and prospect solutions.
  4. Participate in community activities as a representative of City National Bank, promoting and attracting new colleagues and clients.
  5. Manage a portfolio of relationships, monitoring for ongoing credit quality, credit renewal, and adherence to policy.
  6. Work with Regional Manager, Credit Manager, and Credit Administration to negotiate, structure, and underwrite credit transactions that meet client needs and are consistent with the credit quality standards and operational compliance requirements of the Bank.
  7. Monitor the loan documentation process and close the loan.
  8. Expand the portfolio and grow revenue through calls on existing and potential clients to determine their financial needs and provide solutions.
  9. Identify and collaborate with other CNB product experts to achieve cross-sell goals and solidify the client relationship.
  10. Establish a referral network through existing relationships and calls on prospective clients and industry experts, including lawyers, accountants, and brokers.
  11. Maintain awareness of competitive products, practices, rates, and changes in market conditions.
  12. Calls on and collaborates with existing clients to determine their financial needs and offer solutions, resulting in additional cross-sales.
  13. Develop relationships and support other CNB departments and colleagues to provide clients and prospects with recommended solutions.
  14. Proactively monitor the portfolio for ongoing credit quality, credit renewal, and adherence to policy, ensuring accurate and timely risk identification.
  15. Work with clients to develop solutions to minimize loss exposure.
  16. Prepare reports for management.
  17. Support other CNB CRA department and colleagues.
  18. Represent the Bank by actively participating in outside civic and community affairs, business and industry-related organizations, and other professional activities as appropriate.
  19. May serve as a product specialist to Relationship Managers in other business units.
  20. Comply fully with all Bank Operational and Credit policies and procedures as well as all regulatory requirements.
  21. Complete all required training.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Affordable Housing finance/lending experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of financial, income tax analysis experience, and LIHTC.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with broad studies in Business, Finance, Economics, and Accounting, and real estate lending experience.
  • Strong understanding of all products and services applicable to the target client segment.
  • Superior knowledge of Affordable Housing finance, appraisal, credit policies and procedures, and bank operations policies and procedures.
  • Excellent client servicing and sales skills.
  • Excellent credit analysis and accounting skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously in making sound business decisions commensurate with experience and level of authority.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
