Job Title: Quality Assurance Specialist

Vestas American Wind Technology is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team in Brighton, CO.

Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance Specialist will be responsible for testing and inspecting products at various stages of the production process, and compiling and evaluating statistical data to determine and ensure the quality and reliability of Nacelles/ Hub and DT.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify defects and impact on Defects per Unit (DPU) and First Pass Yield (FPY) factory metrics, and work with Production and Technical Support departments for resolution.
  • Create and maintain relevant documentation to solidify improvement methods.
  • Coach and support production members on approved assembly processes and provide an interface to other departments to ensure the expedient resolution of issues.
  • Handle Non-Conformance (NC) reports and support factory personnel on initiation.
  • Perform containment of non-conforming parts or products, and disposition for scrap or internal rework.
  • Facilitate non-standard work events and ensure that all processes are followed to bring the product back into conformance.
  • Inspect and verify material according to specifications or known defects, and report non-conformity.
  • Coordinate rework activities for NC parts or products in progress or inventory with Quality Engineer support.
  • Provide independent quality approval to processes that he/she is not a participant in the assembly of such product.
  • Facilitate Form, Fit, and Function testing of identified products.
  • Write NC reports on parts not meeting defined specifications.
  • Support the production line on potential quality issues and provide guidance to specifications.
  • Verify whether the set product requirements are fulfilled before the product is released for storage, including a review of the inspection journal within QDA and verifying that the process documentation is complete.
  • Stamp mark of approval or rejection within QDA.
  • Inspect product to determine compliance with order specifications, company's quality control system for compliance.
  • Compile and communicate the Quality report and perform the Material Review Board (MRB) meeting daily.
  • Report daily at the morning meeting to brief Quality status from the day prior.
  • Run the MRB meeting to disposition Non-Conformity (NC) material and communicate the results.
  • Perform Dispatch inspections in the storage yard to ensure the Quality of the units before loading on the rail for shipping.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • One to three years related production assembly experience and/or quality training.
  • Auditing, quality assurance/control/improvement, statistical tools, 6 Sigma, statistical analysis and SPC preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment, set a good example of personal integrity, communicate effectively on the job, and use measuring tools and gauges.
