About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to join our team at Bio-Techne. As a Senior Buyer, you will play a critical role in sourcing and managing direct and indirect goods and services, ensuring compliance with procedures and maintaining ongoing communications with suppliers and internal customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Purchase raw materials, lab supplies, scientific equipment, and services based on planned usage and inventory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery.
  • Coordinate purchasing activities with other departments to maintain inventory and supplies at approved levels.
  • Identify and evaluate vendor reliability, develop new supply sources as required, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best possible terms.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure objectives and key requirements are understood and aligned with Purchasing strategies.
  • Actively pursue cost savings opportunities and report PPV to costing.
  • Monitor inventory levels and update as necessary to ensure approved inventory levels.
  • Process and manage BPOs.
  • Work with planning to forecast demand using multiple metrics, including finished goods, forecasts, and consumption rate history to determine appropriate inventory levels of raw materials.
  • Assist with acquiring materials for new customers.
Requirements
  • 2-5 years purchasing experience.
  • AA degree or some college preferred.
  • Experience in medical/diagnostic/biotechnology production setting strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, changing environment and work well as part of a team.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office Skills, most critically Excel.
  • Knowledge or experience of FDA Quality System Requirements, cGMP, and ISO Standards.
  • Experience in reagents, chemicals, and related laboratory products purchasing.
  • Knowledge of different types of Units of Measures and its conversions.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Ability to analyze trends and statistical data and make appropriate decisions and recommendations.
  • Knowledge of the metric measurement and good mathematical ability.
  • Direct to manufacturer, OEM, and custom product purchasing experience as well as Chemical and Biologicals, printed materials, such as boxes, labels, inserts, plastics, and glass materials.
