PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
Deliver exceptional customer service within the Center Store (Grocery) Department.

Accountable for upholding standards in line with the standard practice manual, enhancing sales through outstanding customer service, and reducing shrinkage through effective application of standard practices.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Foster an environment of enthusiastic customer engagement with a primary focus on prompt, friendly, and precise service to ensure a pleasant shopping experience
  • Be courteous and supportive to fellow team members
  • Clean shelves and shelf tag moldings with a damp cloth as necessary during stocking
  • Maintain shelf organization by stocking according to tags
  • Ensure only saleable items are placed on the shelves
  • Guarantee that ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and display of products adhere to company policies and guidelines
  • Understand and utilize company tools such as the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering (CAO)
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of and compliance with company guidelines, policies, and standard practices
  • Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety protocols and procedures
  • Identify and rectify any unsafe conditions that may lead to accidents for associates or customers
  • Report all incidents involving associates and customers in accordance with established procedures to the Manager on Duty
  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations
  • Wear the company uniform, complete with name badge, while on duty, maintaining a neat and clean appearance in line with the dress code
  • Successfully complete all required Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet, and Training Aid courses
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills
  • Willingness and ability to learn various tasks and technical aspects of the role
  • Capability to utilize technical information to resolve issues
  • Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions
  • Must be able to fulfill the physical demands of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to operate computers and other communication systems necessary for job functions
  • Perform repetitive hand and arm movements
  • Bend and lift items weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Pull or push weights up to 75 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to push or pull up to 2000 pounds using a pallet jack
  • Stand for the entirety of the shift, with frequent short-distance walking
  • Handle various substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials, fresh produce, house plants/flowers, and household cleaners
  • Use hands to frequently/continuously handle currency (paper and coin) and operate various equipment such as cash registers, lottery machines (where applicable), scanners, computers, and calculators
  • Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasionally above shoulder or below waist level
  • Meet established volume activity standards for the position
  • Tolerate working in extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time
  • Possess sufficient visual ability to check ID cards, checks, invoices, and other written documents
