Position Overview:

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) opportunity aimed at recruiting and appointing qualified candidates for law enforcement roles within the competitive service.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a wide array of law enforcement duties, including investigations, crime prevention, traffic management, and community engagement.
  • Respond to and investigate incidents involving individuals and property.
  • Manage high-pressure situations effectively.
  • Question and detain suspects using appropriate levels of authorized force.
  • Investigate traffic incidents and interview witnesses.
  • Perform traffic and security patrols to uphold federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Carry out both operational and administrative tasks.
  • Document incidents and activities through detailed reports.
  • Provide security and escort services for VIPs and visitors.
  • Manage access control for installations.

Employment Conditions:

To qualify, applicants must be U.S. Citizens and meet the experience requirements outlined below. Experience includes both paid and unpaid work, such as volunteer roles through National Service programs and other organizations.


Qualifications:

GS-06:
One year of specialized experience involving the application of laws and regulations to maintain order and safeguard life and property; conducting patrols; managing access to restricted areas; responding to assistance calls; or performing searches.

GS-07:
One year of specialized experience that includes utilizing laws and regulations to ensure safety and security; responding to police assistance requests; arresting suspects; investigating crimes; conducting patrols; and writing reports.


Education:

Applicants must meet the qualification requirements through experience alone; education cannot substitute for experience in this position.


Additional Information:
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • A one-year trial/probationary period may be necessary.
  • Direct Deposit of Pay is mandatory.
  • Selection is subject to restrictions from the Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
  • This position may involve a recruitment bonus for newly appointed civilians in the Federal Government.
  • Relocation incentives may be available for current Federal employees moving more than 50 miles from their duty location.
  • Participants in the Student Loan Repayment program (SLRP) must sign a service agreement and maintain acceptable performance levels.
