POSITION OVERVIEW:
As a Competitive Employment Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating change. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver both direct and indirect support to individuals with disabilities, assisting them in securing and excelling in meaningful employment. This position encompasses the development of job opportunities, provision of career advancement services, on-the-job coaching, and ensuring job retention. You will serve as a supportive ally, maintaining a flexible work schedule to align with the employment aspirations and schedules of the individuals you support.
A TYPICAL DAY AS A COMPETITIVE EMPLOYMENT ADVISOR MAY INCLUDE:
- Empowerment & Motivation: Evaluating strengths, eliminating obstacles, and designing tailored employment strategies to help individuals achieve their objectives.
- Exploratory Guidance: Accompanying clients on job shadowing experiences, work trials, and career exploration initiatives to set them on a successful trajectory.
- Enhancing Employability: Improving job readiness by aiding in resume creation, job applications, and refining interview and interpersonal skills.
- Networking Opportunities: Building relationships with employers, organizations, and agencies to generate job openings and vocational training pathways.
- Continuous Support: Providing steadfast assistance to clients through the Supported Employment Follow Along program.
- On-Site Coaching: Offering practical guidance and accommodations to help clients thrive in their roles.
- Resource Navigator: Directing clients to external services when additional support is necessary.
- Employer Liaison: Establishing strong connections between clients and workplace leadership to ensure smooth integration into the work environment.
- Documentation & Communication: Maintaining accurate records and open communication to provide optimal support for our clients.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in Employment Services is preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- CPR & First Aid Certification (Training will be provided if not certified).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Flexible schedule to meet the needs of individuals.
- Reliable transportation is essential.
$20-22/hr
