Wellbridge Addiction Treatment and Research is seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our treatment programs.
Job Summary:The LPN will provide nursing support to all treatment programs, assist the healthcare team with inpatient services, and perform select clinical tests. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of clinical risk, effective communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care according to individual needs.
Responsibilities:- Provide on-site nursing support to all treatment programs
- Assist healthcare team with inpatient services, including interviewing patients, vital signs, height and weight, and data entry into an electronic medical record
- Perform select clinical tests, including urine drug screening, pregnancy tests, and blood glucose monitoring
- Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly
- Demonstrate appropriate hand washing technique to ensure proper infection control and follow universal precautions
- Administer and document medication under physician's order and follow protocols for safety and reduction of medical error
- Participate in controlled substance counts per protocol
- Assist physicians with office-based procedures, such as administration of intramuscular injections
- Observe, record, and report changes in patients' condition
- Organize exam rooms, including general cleaning, upkeep, and re-stocking of supplies
- Field clinically-related telephone calls and respond
- Maintain understanding of current treatments, knowledge, and practices in addiction care
- Graduate of an accredited LPN program
- Current license to practice as an LPN in New York State
- Current certificates for BLS and Infection Control
- Clinical competences in phlebotomy and point-of-care (POC) testing
- Familiarity with all relevant healthcare standards: OASAS, ASAM, JCAHO, etc.
- Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care according to individual needs
- Demonstrate an understanding of clinical risk
- Demonstrate consistent professional conduct
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Clinical experience providing treatment for addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders
- Experience with stabilization and withdrawal management settings
- Experience in an addiction rehabilitation and/or residential environment
- Experience with therapeutic groups (preferably addiction-oriented), therapeutic communities, and inpatient care
- Knowledge of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and how behavioral interventions can support and improve outcomes for MAT
- Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrated ability to create a positive, respectful, collaborative, and team-focused environment
