SalaryThe annual base salary range for this position is estimated to be between $83,300.00 and $137,400.00, depending on factors such as location and experience.
Job DescriptionThis role involves investigating, evaluating, and resolving General Liability related Bodily Injury and Property Damage claims. The successful candidate will provide quality claim handling throughout the claim life cycle, ensuring full compliance with internal and external quality standards and state-specific regulations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mind and be able to think critically, making informed decisions on most assigned cases without involvement from a supervisor. They will also possess excellent negotiation and customer service skills, as well as the ability to communicate complex data and information effectively.
In this role, you will:
- Directly handle assigned severe claims
- Provide quality customer service and ensure file quality and timely coverage analysis and communication with insureds based on application of policy information to facts or allegations of each case
- Consult with Manager on use of Claim Coverage Counsel as needed
- Investigate each claim through prompt and strategically appropriate contact with policyholders, accounts, claimants, law enforcement agencies, witnesses, agents, medical providers, and technical experts
- Interview witnesses and stakeholders; take necessary statements as strategically appropriate
- Actively engage in the identification, selection, and direction of appropriate internal and/or external resources for specific activities required to evaluate claims
- Maintain claim files and documents claim file activities in accordance with established procedures
- Utilize evaluation documentation tools in accordance with department guidelines
The right candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree, 3 years of bodily injury liability claim handling and/or litigation experience, and extensive claim and/or legal experience and technical expertise to evaluate severe and complex claims.
Required Skills and QualificationsTo succeed in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 3 years bodily injury liability claim handling and/or litigation experience
- Skilled in coverage, contract interpretation, liability and damages analysis, and thorough understanding of the litigation process, relevant case and statutory law, and expert litigation management skills
- Able to make independent decisions on most assigned cases without involvement of supervisor
- Thorough understanding of business line products, policy language, exclusions, ISO forms, and effective claims handling practices
