Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Dietitian to join our team at Macomb County (Michigan). The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating public health nutrition programs and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement nutrition plans and programs for the WIC program and other public health initiatives.
  • Provide nutrition education and counseling services to clients, including breastfeeding support and nutrition education for pregnant and postpartum women.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and community organizations to promote healthy eating habits and nutrition education.
  • Conduct nutrition assessments and develop individualized nutrition plans for high-risk participants.
  • Prescribe tailored food packages for individuals and approve Class III formulas for medically prescribed nutritional support.
  • Perform quality assurance and improvement activities related to the nutritional care of high-risk participants.
  • Develop and document individual high-risk nutrition care plans.
  • Assist in quality assurance and quality improvement activities, public health nutrition program evaluation, and accreditation activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics, or Public Health Nutrition from an accredited college or university.
  • Current certification as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Valid Michigan driver's license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics, or Public Health Nutrition from an accredited college or university.
  • Previous experience working in a public health and/or an outpatient nutrition setting.
