About the Role

The Comptroller of the Treasury is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Auditor to join our team in the East region of Tennessee. As a Legislative Auditor, you will be responsible for conducting audits in accordance with professional auditing standards, examining and reviewing records, reports, financial statements, and management practices for state and local government entities and other organizations receiving public funds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct audits in the East region of Tennessee, examining and reviewing records, reports, financial statements, and management practices for state and local government entities and other organizations receiving public funds.
  • Assist in evaluating the fairness of financial statement presentation, the adequacy of internal controls, compliance with laws, regulations, contracts, and grant agreements, and the efficiency and effectiveness of an entity's operations.
  • Produce high-quality work, taking ownership of various audit tasks or projects, and working well individually and in a team environment.
  • Contribute to a results-oriented culture through active participation in meetings and collaboration with coworkers.
  • Ensure that written and verbal communications are clear and easily understood by all stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration with a minimum of 24 semester hours in accounting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with auditees, coworkers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn quickly, be open to change, and adapt to new situations.
