Chemistry Educator for Secondary Education

OBJECTIVE
The primary aim is to educate students in the subject of chemistry and guide them towards achieving their academic goals.
REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid Tennessee teaching license with the necessary endorsements. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with effective presentation and interpersonal abilities are essential. Candidates must also meet health and physical standards.
SUPERVISION
Reports directly to the Principal.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS
Exempt from FLSA regulations.
WORK SCHEDULE
200 days per academic year.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare thoroughly for assigned classes and provide evidence of preparation when requested by supervisors.
- Create and sustain a classroom environment that promotes learning and enforces discipline.
- Develop a comprehensive teaching outline that aligns with state and local curriculum standards.
- Deliver instruction using diverse teaching methodologies and resources.
- Assign homework and evaluate student submissions.
- Design, administer, and grade assessments while documenting results.
- Regularly assess and report on student progress.
- Communicate student progress to parents through reports.
- Maintain accurate attendance and grading records as mandated by educational authorities.
- Monitor students for signs of health or emotional issues and report as necessary.
- Supervise students in hallways and during school events as assigned.
- Encourage positive social interactions among students.
- Notify the principal of any concerns regarding student welfare related to potential abuse or neglect.
- Represent the school and community positively.
- Conduct classes at designated times and locations.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Engage in faculty meetings, professional development, and training workshops.
- Adhere to school policies, regulations, and administrative guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Ability to adapt to various tasks without losing efficiency or composure.
- Willingness to take responsibility for planning and directing activities.
- Capability to work effectively with students.
- Skill in making informed decisions based on observations and judgments.
Specific skills may be necessary for effective job performance:
- Cognitive Ability: Understanding instructions and principles, reasoning, and making sound judgments.
- Communication: Comprehending meanings of words and associated ideas.
- Mathematical Skills: Performing arithmetic operations accurately and swiftly.
- Data Interpretation: Understanding and interpreting information from graphs, charts, or tables.
- Spatial Awareness: Understanding forms in space and the relationships between objects.
- Manual Skills: Manipulating small objects with precision and speed.
- Color Recognition: Identifying similarities or differences in colors or shades.
This role may involve lifting or carrying items exceeding fifty (50) pounds, with frequent handling of objects weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Other physical activities may include pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, hearing, and seeing.
