Job Summary
The International Lead Auditor will play a key role in planning and executing all components of internal audit work, including identifying and defining issues, assessing risk, and developing audit programs. This position requires a strong understanding of internal auditing and risk assessment principles, as well as excellent communication and project management skills.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough risk assessments of business units to identify high-risk areas and develop audit programs to address these risks.
- Develop and document audit observations and recommendations using independent judgment and analysis.
- Communicate the results of audit and advisory engagements to stakeholders through written reports and oral presentations.
- Review and report on the status of management action plans in response to audit recommendations.
- Plan and execute various activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, such as SOX testing.
- Mentor staff auditors and provide coaching and guidance to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with clients and staff through individual contacts and group meetings.
- Represent internal audit on organizational project teams and at management meetings.
- Conduct special reviews and investigations as needed.
- Provide input into the development of the annual audit plan.
- Work with and liaise with consultants or other auditors, including external auditors.
- Pursue professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on the latest internal auditing and risk assessment techniques.
- Travel up to 50% of the time, including domestic and international locations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of full-time experience in auditing, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
- Strong understanding of internal auditing and risk assessment principles.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet, and other business software.
- Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues, other staff, and external representatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- CIA, CPA, or CISA designations.
- Masters-level degree in a related field.
- Experience in the oil and gas industry.
