POSITION OVERVIEW

Sciens Building Solutions is in search of a dedicated Controller who will oversee the daily operations related to financial planning, implementation, management, and reporting. This role is essential for both tactical and strategic management, reporting directly to the Regional Controller while maintaining a collaborative relationship with the Division president. The Controller will play a pivotal leadership role within the organization, contributing to the formulation and execution of both short-term and long-term strategies. The successful candidate will be a true 'business partner,' fostering effective collaboration across all departments. Additionally, the Controller is expected to positively influence the company culture and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and key stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the Regional Controller to establish and implement objectives, policies, financial strategies, and procedures for financial and operational management, including budgeting and accounting.
  • Build and maintain a motivated team aligned with business requirements and financial staffing standards.
  • Facilitate positive interdepartmental collaboration to ensure financial transparency and a focus on business growth.
  • Develop and maintain robust internal financial management control systems and continuously enhance these systems.
  • Lead the preparation of necessary financial statements and operational reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Review financial statements and operational reports with stakeholders, providing gap analysis and performance improvement recommendations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions and accounting data, maintaining compliance with all legal and regulatory financial functions.
  • Oversee compliance with various regulations, including DOL, IRS, 401(k), and medical requirements.
  • Manage compliance for publicly funded projects, including DCAA requirements.
  • Coordinate with CPA firms for the preparation of external audit materials, GAAP financial reporting, and tax compliance.
  • Manage annual audits and maintain auditor relationships.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly business review packages and reporting to the platform CFO.
  • Analyze key financial and operational metrics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Implement strategies to optimize cash flow and working capital.
  • Evaluate organizational performance against budgets in collaboration with functional leaders.
  • Manage ongoing banking and bonding requirements.
  • Lead the deployment and operation of ERP systems.
  • Ensure adherence to safety culture and compliance with safety initiatives across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA, Master's in Accounting, or MBA preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in a Controller role.
  • Proficient in cost accounting, including standard costing processes and percentage of completion (POC) revenue recognition.
  • Experience with ComputerEase is required.
  • Strong inventory management capabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership with a proactive approach to business advocacy.
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency and a collaborative mindset.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop actionable strategies to meet departmental and organizational goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate clearly in various situations.
