SUMMARY:
As the Special Events Community Coordinator at the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office, you will be instrumental in building and nurturing positive connections between the Sheriff's Office and various community groups. Your primary responsibility will be to design, organize, and implement monthly events that serve a wide array of audiences, including veterans, seniors, public safety organizations, civic groups, educational institutions, and more. Your initiatives will enhance public safety awareness and community involvement while supporting the sheriff's office's foundational principles of prevention, intervention, education, and hope.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Event Planning and Coordination: Strategically plan, organize, and coordinate monthly events that reflect the sheriff's office's dedication to prevention, intervention, education, and hope. Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful execution of events that cater to various community segments.
- Community Engagement: Actively engage with community members to foster positive relationships through event participation and representation at community meetings, forums, and gatherings.
- Strategic Partnerships: Identify and develop partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and educational institutions to amplify the impact of events and broaden the reach of community initiatives.
- Event Marketing and Promotion: Create and implement effective marketing strategies to promote upcoming events. Utilize diverse communication channels to raise awareness and stimulate interest.
- Resource Management: Oversee budgets, resources, and logistics necessary for event planning and execution, ensuring efficient use of resources while adhering to budgetary limits.
- Feedback and Assessment: Gather feedback from event participants and community members to continuously enhance the quality and relevance of events. Analyze data to inform future planning.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of event planning, coordination, attendance, and outcomes. Prepare regular reports for department leadership, showcasing the success and impact of community engagement efforts.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all events adhere to relevant regulations, permits, and safety protocols, collaborating with appropriate departments to address any concerns.
- The Sheriff of Norfolk County reserves the right to add or modify these responsibilities.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Community Relations, Public Administration, Event Management) or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in event planning and community engagement, with a successful track record of executing impactful events.
- Strong understanding of public safety principles related to prevention, intervention, education, and hope.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with a diverse range of community members and stakeholders.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in utilizing various communication tools and platforms to promote events and engage with the community.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for events.
- Knowledge of local community dynamics and cultural sensitivities.
- Experience in budget management and resource allocation is preferred.
The NCSO Special Events Community Coordinator will primarily operate within the sheriff office's community engagement team, working closely with internal departments, local organizations, and community members. The role may involve occasional travel to attend meetings and events. The coordinator will report to the Director of Community Engagement.
HOURS:
40 hours per week with a flexible schedule, including potential weekend hours as required.
