Job Title: Extension Program Coordinator I / II

Wayne State University is seeking an experienced Extension Program Coordinator I / II to join its team. This is a 100% grant-funded position located at the university's Detroit campus.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Associate Director of the Labor School to coordinate unit programming, develop and teach online and in-person non-credit labor and employment classes and workshops. Key responsibilities include:

Essential Functions:
  • Research, develop, modify, and teach online and in-person non-credit labor and employment classes and workshops.
  • Appraise and review current non-credit classroom labor curriculum and assess its capacity for expanding the range of online and in-person courses and workshops.
  • Develop syllabi and materials for non-credit Labor School classes and customized workshops to meet program goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate and organize public outreach events for recruitment into the Labor School's programs, including conferences, webinars, and on-campus, online, and off-campus classes and workshops.
  • Conduct regional and national research on current trends in labor education, workplaces, unions, and issues affecting workers, especially those represented by labor unions, to support the Labor School curriculum and programming.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required for level I; Master's degree required for level II, in a related field or in education.
  • Experience with labor organization and/or labor education preferred.
  • Experience in teaching and in curriculum development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Computer literacy required; digital skills and/or online education skills a plus.
  • Experience working within the Canvas online platform and/or other online educational tools.
