As an AV Fabrication Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in preparing technology projects for installation in our shop build environments. This position requires coordinating with project management and others to understand your role on specific projects. You'll interpret drawing packages to create portions of the finished systems, including AV technology and cabling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Physical installation of various technology
  • Accurately cutting cables for bench fabrication to assigned lengths
  • Preparing and labeling cables for fabrication, both by hand and using automated striping machines
  • Executing and testing cable terminations for all Broadcast, Network, and A/V connectors
  • Reading, creating, and understanding cable wirelists and project drawings
  • Responsible for 'Blue Lining' project drawings
  • Prepping and packing racks for shipment to job sites
  • Proficient in high-density cable dressing, such as patch panels and routers
  • Mentoring and training associate fabrication technicians
  • Preparing equipment racks for staging, wire lacing, and installation of power strips, grounding bars, and jack-fields
  • Mounting equipment into racks, terminating wiring, and connections as per technical drawings
  • Reading and understanding functional design drawings and equipment rack diagrams
  • Providing a consistent level of technical performance and flexibility in work schedule
  • Building and wiring custom panels from engineering drawings
  • Fiber optic cable handling, installation, termination, and testing
  • Maintaining relationships with CAD and Engineering, providing feedback for efficiencies
  • Assisting and guiding other fabrication staff to interpret drawings and enhance builds
  • Maintaining an organized work environment, including orderliness and cleanliness of the shop and job sites
  • Responsible for maintaining tools, test equipment, materials inventories, and documentation
  • Tracking and maintaining personal licenses, certifications, and qualifications

Complexity:

This level of technician will work independently, coordinating and communicating effectively with various internal staff. Decision-making authority will be escalated when needed, with project managers, design engineers, and shop managers available for guidance.

Physical Working Environment:

The physical demands described are representative of those that may be met by an employee. The employee may be exposed to construction site conditions regularly. Safety regulations will be followed, and PPE will be used as required. The employee can spend at least 50% of their time on their feet and may be required to climb ladders, use stairs, and lift materials up to 40 pounds.

Travel:

This is a shop-based role, but occasional travel to job sites may be required.
