Job Summary:

The Nutrition Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the nutritional needs of patients are met. This position interacts directly with patients to explain prescribed diets, assist with menu selection, and coordinate meal delivery. Collaborating with dietitians and production staff, the Nutrition Assistant helps to ensure that patients' meal selections are free of food allergens and comply with any dietary restrictions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Explain patient diets to ensure understanding and compliance
• Assist with menu selection to meet individual patient needs
• Utilize Electronic Health Records and Food Service Management system daily
• Ensure patient/family satisfaction through direct patient interaction
• Maintain departmental policies and procedures of clinical care in accordance with regulatory agencies
• Work collaboratively with Nutrition & Dining staff to ensure a safe, quality dining experience
• Demonstrate effective communication and team-based management skills

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year of food service or nutrition experience, preferably in a healthcare environment
• Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment
