Senior Estimator Role

Location: Various Locations

Employment Type: Full-Time

Hours per Week: 40-50 hours/week

Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000 annually, based on experience

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Science, Engineering, Architecture, or related disciplines preferred

Required Experience: 10 years in commercial construction, with a minimum of 5 years focused on estimating

Position Overview: A respected General Contractor is in search of a proficient Senior Estimator to enhance their team. The selected candidate will be tasked with generating precise and timely proposals and estimates for a variety of construction projects within the organization’s portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Estimating and Cost Analysis:
    • Create detailed estimates based on various project design stages.
    • Forecast and estimate project components not yet depicted in designs.
    • Ensure pricing aligns with the scope of work through thorough review of narratives, plans, and specifications.
    • Engage in the development and assessment of design alternatives and cost-saving options.
    • Manage pricing strategies, breakdowns, and work packages.
    • Communicate pricing and costs effectively to clients and engineers.
    • Support project teams in evaluating proposals and defining subcontract scopes.
    • Collaborate with marketing on technical proposal aspects.
  • Design Review:
    • Examine drawings and specifications for adequacy.
    • Research and interpret applicable building codes.
    • Contribute constructively in project meetings.
    • Provide insights on constructability, logistics, sequencing, and pricing.
  • Scheduling:
    • Offer input on task durations for project schedules.
    • Identify and communicate lead times for schedule integration.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 10 years of experience in commercial construction, with at least 5 years in estimating.
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Proficiency in industry-related software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong mathematical and visualization capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Able to produce reports and communicate effectively across all organizational levels.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of the subcontractor market.
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant fields.
  • Field experience in construction projects.
  • Familiarity with BIM software.
