The Heavy Equipment Mechanic (HEM) plays a crucial role in diagnosing and repairing a variety of military and civilian wheeled vehicles, including light, medium, and heavy equipment. This position involves working collaboratively within a team of skilled mechanics to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and conduct maintenance using both traditional and advanced diagnostic tools.

Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Conducting both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on wheeled vehicles and trailers.
  • Performing inspections, tests, and operational checks on wheeled equipment to assess serviceability.
  • Providing essential services such as fueling, lubricating, and cooling systems maintenance, along with disassembling and reassembling faulty components.
  • Executing repairs, cleaning, and corrosion treatment of parts and accessories.
  • Ensuring proper disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Operating and servicing wheeled equipment for maintenance purposes.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized workspace while adhering to safety protocols and property accountability.
  • Utilizing various repair and testing equipment, including Maintenance Support Devices and electrical testers.
  • Completing additional tasks as assigned to achieve organizational goals.
  • Job responsibilities may evolve based on contractual obligations.
Qualifications

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Possession of a valid State Driver's License.
  • Ability to maintain driving privileges as required.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and background investigation.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of three (3) to six (6) years of experience in the maintenance of wheeled equipment or a related field.
  • Applicants must provide their own compliant tools that meet OSHA standards.

SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing both military and civilian wheeled vehicles.
  • Familiarity with electronic technical manuals is essential.
