Family Store Assistant Manager

About this role:
As a Family Store Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for supervising and participating in the day-to-day operations of the Family Store and warehouse, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. You will also be responsible for maintaining the neatness and attractiveness of store merchandise, assisting customers, and training and instructing employees.
Key responsibilities:
- Supervise and participate in the cashier activities, ensuring that all customers are treated in a polite and friendly manner.
- Assist Store Clerks in ringing-up, recording, and receipting sales, and assist in preparing daily sales reports and bank deposits.
- Assist customers in locating items and prices, and explain store policy and ensure compliance with the same.
- Maintain the store displays, arranging, rotating, and re-stocking displayed items to ensure the displays remain in a plentiful, neat, and orderly manner for customer convenience and store attractiveness.
- Determine appropriate prices for merchandise, ensuring quick turnover of stock while also bringing a fair and reasonable price for The Salvation Army.
- Supervise the unloading of incoming donations in the warehouse, ensuring that items are properly sorted, stocked, and/or discarded in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Prepare, maintain, and file various store reports, records, forms, etc., including community service records, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of the same.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- One (1) year working in a retail store, preferably a Salvation Army store with some experience supervising the work of co-workers, or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle. Work is performed in a normal store environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
