Job Summary:
Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recovery Coach to join our team. As a Recovery Coach, you will work closely with DOC Addiction Services staff to provide recovery coaching services within identified Department of Correction facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide recovery coaching to incarcerated individuals close to discharge, with a focus on those receiving Medication Assisted Treatment.
- Work closely with Addiction Services/Medical personnel and staff to facilitate timely referrals and placements to ongoing treatment/recovery support providers.
- Follow up with individuals post-discharge to continue recovery planning and connect them to a larger community of care.
- Educate and assist family members as requested, serving as a recovery ambassador and promoting the message and services of CCAR.
- Participate in ongoing recovery coach training, education, and performance support, and report writing and record keeping as required.
- Travel required for this position.
Requirements:
- Experience with the addiction recovery process and understanding of medication-assisted treatment and practices.
- Familiarity with local support services, resources, and recovery community, with capability of building an effective coach-recoveree relationship.
- Demonstrated skill in actively listening, asking good questions, awareness of self, and treating people as resources, with understanding of and ability to maintain appropriate boundaries.
- Ability to work within a Correctional Facility setting, with availability to work a flexible schedule and cross-cultural skills, and experience with culturally diverse populations.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus, and a valid driver's license, insurance, and reliable vehicle are required.
- Strong customer service ethic, with certificate of completion of the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy preferred.
